Learn More About Tony Hughes
I have been in the electrical trade since 1988 when I began an apprenticeship in electrical installations at the Eastern Electricity Board. Here I gained several years training and experience as an electrician working all over Hertfordshire and the rest of the east and surrounding areas. I learnt a wide range of techniques during my time as an apprentice, and furthered these skills as a subcontracting electrician.
As a subcontractor, I worked alongside a variety of company on projects across Hertfordshire. Over my 10 years as a subcontractor I completed hundreds of jobs, ranging from safety checks to full new build electrical installations. I gained a vast amount of experience in the commercial and industrial fields as I completed installation work in shops, pubs, restaurants and others. Additionally, I spent 18 months working at the NATO headquarters: HMS Warrior in Northwood. Here, I developed my skills and I was regularly required to fix electrical faults and renovate rooms to serve a new purpose.
In 2004, I decided to follow a different route in the electrical field and I founded Tony Hughes Electrical Ltd. I registered and qualified for the NICEIC Domestic Installer and Approved Contractor certifications in 2007 and as such we always make sure that we fully comply with all government regulations, including; BS7671 IET Wiring Regulations, Electricity at Work Regulations, and Part P of the Building Regulations. From here I began to work with several local and national companies on buildings in the Hertfordshire area. These include the NHS Hertfordshire, BUPA, Kelly Communications, and several schools, letting agencies and insurance businesses. I regularly perform Electrical Installation Condition Reports for our larger clients, and also on the homes rented out by the letting agencies.
A lot of the work that I first took on as Tony Hughes Electrical Ltd was earnt through the hard-work that I had put into previous clients’ projects during my time as a subcontractor and through my time on the electricity board. I take great pride in the level of work that I put into every job that I attend and I constantly strive to exceed my client’s expectations. I feel this is important due to the reputation that myself and my company have garnered. As well as the importance of having an electrically safe home (my application for registration onto Construction Line is a testament to my commitment for improving the electrical health and safety of my clients). As an example of how my reputation has affected my workload, in 2009 I was made an approved contractor by the NHS Hertfordshire; my work here was noticed by the Royal Star and Garter and lead to me being a regular contractor used by this company as well.
I am also driven in providing opportunities to the local students of Hertfordshire and have taken on school leavers as apprentices and trained them as electricians. I currently have a 2nd year apprentice working with me on any projects that we take on.
I am extremely proud of the level of work and service that my company provides on every job that we undertake, and would love the opportunity to show you what Tony Hughes Electrical Ltd has to offer. Call today on 01923 728662, or visit our contact page and leave us a message.
